Rainy Day

I am that cartoon who has their own personal storm cloud following them around...

Last night at TEN FORTY FIVE PM I recieved a call from the sorority people saying neither house gave me an invite to the pref party. I was pretty upset about it because merely hours before I had decided that I really did want to be in one of these sororities. So that was a major blow. I tossed and turned and decided I couldn't sleep so I went to work on my puzzle an ended up getting so mad and upset about this damn sorority crap that I sat on my floor and cried for a while.
Today I am tired because I didn't get much sleep at all due to all of that crap. SO i'm grumpy not only because I didn't sleep but because I hate myself for even being upset about the sorority crap! I fell into that trap of feeling like i needed to be in it to belong somewhere and sisterhood and yada yada. My morning classes were boring which didn't help my mood and walking back to my apartment during my break time I dropped my phone and shattered it!

So my phone is unusable which makes me even more upset because I RELY on my phone for EVERYTHING. I don't have a land line here! I can use skype for those who have it, and facebook for messaging but that require me to carry around my laptop. Which I just don't feel safe doing today given the crappiness of it all.

Here in a few hours I have my wind ensemble audition. I'm really hoping my cloud will be drained and gone by then and I can have just a little bit of luck in my day.

I'm sorry for the depressin post but this has seriously been a terrible day. I'm sure tomorrow will be better and I'm looking forward to it!

Delta Zeta VS Alpha Gamma Delta

So, 3 days ago I was NOT interested in joining a sorority. I thought about it a bit, but I didn't think I was remotely the type of girl to be in one. But I had already filled out the recruitment form so mom said I should go to the meeting and learn about it. I dragged my new friend, Kjersti, to the meeting because I was terrified of going alone.

The meeting was sunday night, I learned about the two different sororities and met a bunch of the girls. I was still really nervous and really iffy about actually joining by the end of that meeting. Neither of the houses seemed like the place for me.

Monday night I went to Service night. We made cards for kids in... South Africa? I think (sorry I wasn't paying attention that cloasely apparently). It was fun! I talked to a bunch of the girls from AGD, but not many from DZ. So my interest was kind of leaning toward AGD. But I still had another event to attend before any decisions were made.

Tonight (Tuesday) was the House tours. I really enjoyed both. The houses are nice, the people were great, but now I'm firmly 50/50 about which house I would prefer!

We'll see how it ends up. Now I wait for a bid from one or both (or neither) of the houses! And I'm actually really excited about it. Who'da thunk it?! :-P

FHSU Go Tigers!

So this week was the FHSU Marching Tigers Band Camp! It was a blast! Everyone worked really hard and we got our pregame show and our halftime show all set in just a week! actually it would be like 15 hours or so really. It was freaking hot yesterday and today and I have some lovely band camp tan lines :)
Monday night we had a waterballoon fight which I actually participated in.
Tuesday I hung out with my new friend, Danny, and his roommates.
Wednesday the band went to Sonic to play volleyball and I managed to not get hit in the face.
Thursday I hung out with Danny and his roommate and went to a party!
and Tonight I briefly went to the band picnic but had to leave after being there for like 15 minutes because..... MOM AND ALAN CAME TO VISIT! :D We walked to dinner from their hotel and it started raining while we were eating. plus it was windy and had dropped like 25 degrees so it was a cold walk back to the even colder hotel room.
Pretty much all I did this week was march, play my flute, and make lots of new friends! I'm definitely excited about this semester at Fort Hays State University! GO TIGERS!

I'm not ready for classes to start on Monday though because I don't have any of my books because I got confused about my financial aid and ended up getting less in the beginnin than I thought I would.... so we'll see how that goes.

So to the few people who are reading this, if you feel I didn't mention something or want elaboration... feel free to comment and I will update it. :)

Another Day, Another Post

Mom seems to think I need to update this thing sometimes... Now seems like a decent time to do so.

Its still pretty boring around here. But now that I have a job, things are going by quicker! Working at the Paisley Pear is nothin like any of my previous jobs... and i've had plenty...

I'll give you an idea about how the store runs. So you have the main floor where the shop is. They sell decorative things, kitchen supplies, and some food stuff. Lots and lots of stuff that I don't know a thing about, but I guess I'll learn. So thats the store, then the back room is the office of a lady who does window designs. I'm not exactly sure whats up with that, but she's nice so I go with it.
Then you go downstairs and the basement is split in half. One half has desks, computers, lots of design stuff... yadda yadda. Basically the downstairs is the office for Jocelyn's (the owner of the Paisley Pear) other business, where she remodels people's homes. Its crazy. The other half of the basement has been my home since I started. They got their halloween and chrismas shipments in a few days before I was hired. So I've had the lovely task of pricing each and every statue, ornament, and strand of garland. Its mind numbing, but the time goes by quickly and I get paid for it, so its good. The people are nice, the work is easy, so all in all not a bad job.

I'm still hoping for a few hours a week at Payless to save me the 8 hours driving each month to work one day in Olathe to keep my job at that Payless.

I've spent my entire week there and I had today off of work. So I went to see a movie. Matinee(sp?) is cheap! I saw Crazy Stupid Love. It was pretty good, but probably more of a rental than theater movie.

Band Camp starts tomorrow and I'm so freaking ready!

So yea, thats my life for now. Still not terribly exciting but at least those of you who want to know whats going on with me can read and find out!

Getting Started

OK, ignore the colors for now. I'll fix that up. My fabulous sister taught me how to create a blog tonight... I don't know how I feel about actually "blogging" about my life, but I guess its one way to keep track of all that is going on and to let my family know how I'm doing!

So yeah, I moved here to Hays, Kansas a week and 2 days ago. Since my arrival I have sorted out my room (though I'm not finished with that), watched a lot of TV, played on my computer WAY too much, worked on a puzzle with a picture of Time Square on it, applied for jobs, interviewed and recieved a job at the Paisley Pear, and worked. Seems like quite a bit, but really its not and I have PLENTY of time to be bored. Oh yeah, and I've called my mom approximately 20 times and that only since I got BACK to Hays sunday night... after going home for the weekend.

Sorry, I'm terrible at writing an interesting Blog like Jessica Green and Eric Green do, but maybe I'll get better. ATM I'm just recounting my life since moving to "Hays America" as Bob, from payless, calls it.

So good luck if you feel like following this blog... you'll need it to stay motivated to read more.
And yes, jessica, I do believe you will be the only one following this, so feel free to CRITIQUE!
